| Insignia of the 840th EAB |
This Battalion crossed the Normandy beaches early in July to build Meautis (A-17), then raced armored forces to Dreaux, then knocked out a "quicky" from the white chalk of Mourmelon. They struggled in the mud of Toul during the Fall, and shivered through the Yuletide at Tantonville, after which they engaged in maintenance operations. Crossed Rhine in March to Frankfort, then to Stuttgart.
