I have two photos of Joe Kubik taken in 1944-45. They are in my late father's WWII photo album. One photo shows Kubik standing in front of a fireplace in uniform. My father wrote " Joe Kubik Iceland" at the bottom. The other photo, a portrait style, has "Joe Kubik '44' " written on the front.
My father, Lee E.Hatfield, was a rifleman(Pfc.) in the 2nd Battalion, 30th Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division in WWII from 1943 to 1945. I don't know how their paths ever crossed . The 3rd Infantry Division landed in Southern France in August 1944 and wasn't involved in D-Day or the other actions in the north. I don't recall ever hearing Kubik's name mentioned.
In any event, if anyone sees this entry and has an interest in obtaining copies of the photos, please contact me.
