Reel 1 shows Brit. Adm. Cunningham and Gens. Eisenhower, Tedder, Montgomery, Patton, and Doolittle. U.S. planes bomb Pantelleria; Brit. inf. go ashore. Shows masses of Ital. POWs Axis planes bomb an Allied supply, ship off the island. Brit. engrs. repair an airstrip on the island. Allied bombers strike objectives in Italy. Troops Transports assemble in the harbor at Alexandria; Gens. Eisenhower and Patton are aboard the Monrovia. Allied troops, following a night naval bombardment, land on Sicily using amphibious vehicles and floating causeways. Steel mesh mats are laid down: bulldozers are taken ashore. Gen Patton and 3rd Inf. Div. units land. Axis planes attack the convoy, exploding an ammunition ship. Reel 2 shows debris on the beach near Gela and masses of Ital. POW's. 3rd Div. troops clear minefields. Shows Gen. Truscott. Motorized artillery is moved to the front. Allied antiaircraft mistakenly downs friendly transport planes near Gela. The 45th Div. advances on Rogusa. Ital. POW's repair roads. The 3rd Div. enters Palermo; Gen. Eisenhower inspects debris in the city; antiaircraft repels an Axis attack. Reel 3 shows debris in Palermo's harbor; a smoke screen shields the harbor. Allied and Axis wounded are evacuated. Ger. troops are evacuated from Messina to the mainland. Allied Military, Govt. agents distribute rations, supervise medical care, and Institute war crime trials. Pres. Roosevelt reviews Allied, troops from a jeep.
